Do you want more leeway or free rein to be who you are, do what you love or get what you want?
Maybe you feel stuck in a situation and need a way out.
You’re craving freedom! And you’re not alone. It’s common because it’s ours for the taking. Our inner power tells us so.
Freedom, by definition, means the power or right to act, speak, or think as you want without hindrance or restraint.
Ok, let me repeat that…it’s just that good to repeat…
Freedom means the power or right to…
act, speak, or think…
as you want…
without hindrance or restraint.
The truth is…
You’ve always had and still have the POWER to act, speak or think as you want.
Before you allow all the reasons to pop up why it’s not possible for you or somehow things are different for you…
Know that we’ve all felt stuck and trapped in a situation ….where freedom seemed nowhere in sight. At one time or another, we’ve all felt restricted.
However, there is something you can do about it. Yes, even you. Right here. Right now.
First, let’s get clear on why you may not feel free…
1—Your entire lifetime is packaged inside of you as imprints and patterns.
2—Each experience gets triggered by words, encounters and relationships.
3—You’ve been conditioned to interpret these in a certain way, thus, determining how you respond.
4—How you respond determines your outcome.
5—Therefore, any lack of freedom you feel or have in your experiences is a result of your own conditioning.
The good news is you can recondition (retrain) your interpretations and responses.
Wouldn’t it be great if you could wake up to carte blanche, an empty check of sorts, to write out and live the freedom you crave? Of course it would!
There are many ways to do this, but here’s ONE game-changer trick you can use right now to gain more freedom:
Use your power to retrain your meanings.
You have the power to choose the meanings you give to your life experiences. You experience an event, you give it a meaning and then you experience a particular emotion.
For example, there was a time when I was ill and suffered in pain everyday for close to a year. The pain never subsided. It was a challenging and I felt trapped and longed for freedom.
Later I learned to pay attention to the meanings I was giving events in my life. So, I worked on changing the meaning of that defining event.
I decided that being severely sick meant that I was able to learn about health and healing in a profound way that I never could have otherwise. I decided that I could use what I learned to help others. I decided that getting sick didn’t mean that I was being punished (an old conditioned meaning I had about it); it meant that I was becoming empowered.
These new meanings and perspectives changed my life, helped me get unstuck and ultimately changed my destiny.
The meaning that you give to the events of your past and present can powerfully provide you freedom. Find meanings that are empowering and don’t cause anguish for you. Decide to find the empowering meaning (opportunity). It’s usually right under your nose.
It’s never too late to do this too. Here is an exercise to get you started:
Today, notice the meaning you give to everything that happens to you. Let’s say a guy cuts you off in traffic. You can decide he is rude or you can decide there is a reason for his actions. Maybe his wife is in labor and he wants to get to the hospital in time.
The first meaning can make you feel angry, the second meaning can make you feel compassionate. As you have no way of knowing the motivations of the driver in that moment, choose a meaning for his actions that does not diminish you.
Seek the good in every circumstance. Choose meanings for your life that empower you and you will begin to experience more freedom.
Go out right NOW and create more freedom in your life. The more you practice reconditioning yourself, the more freedom will grow in your life. There are countless ways to use your power. Be free!
Now, I have a question for you…is there a past event in your life you’d like to reframe and give a new meaning to? Is something happening right now in your life that can be shifted?
Share it in the comments below. I’d love to hear from you. Plus, your insight might be just the thing someone needs to hear today.
Remember, the world needs more of YOU in it. I hope this has supported you in some way get out there, be YOU and live a truly meaningful life.
P.S. Keep going…..love life, live well and learn more!
